Big Knick Energy Podcast S2E20 - Sam Quinn from CBS Sports
Friday Feb 17, 2023
Friday Feb 17, 2023
Joe Yolk (@JoeyLandolfa) is joined by Sam Quinn of CBS Sports (@SamQuinnCBS) to preview the Knicks last quarter of the season after the all-star break. They discuss where the Knicks, Nets, and Heat will end up in the battle to avoid the play-in.
Is there a chance any of the three teams fall below 7th, and if so, who would be taking the leap up from the teams farther down in the standings?
They follow up the standings talk with who the Knicks and Knicks fans should want to see in the first round (and beyond?!) in the post-season and why.
The two then get to the All-Star Weekend Festivities. Do either of the Knicks participating in Saturday’s events have a chance of winning?
Are they both going to bet on dunking sensation but not really an NBA player Mac McClung?
Also Sam explains why there’s value in betting the actual All-Star Game before the draft even takes place.
Joe brings up a 4 month old tweet Sam tweeted ranking the contract values of RJ Barrett, Jordan Poole, and Tyler Herro.
This leads to a surprising amount of Warriors talk whether the Warriors could or should trade Poole or Draymond Green in the off-season. Lastly, what’s more likely?
The Mavericks missing the post-season or the Wizards making the post-season? Can the Knicks end up with 2 1st round picks this year after all?! (99% no.)

Joe Yolk (@joeylandolfa) is joined by Yossi Golzan (@yossigozlan) of hoopsHype and USA today's Sports Wire Media Group. Joe starts with a 90 second Knicks-Magic recap before getting into the deadline talk.
Yossi first explains why a team would trade another team something for nothing, explaining the Heat-Spurs trade and how a trade exemption is useful for a team within 1 year of the trade date.
Joe follows that up with asking Yossi who he would be more concerned with making a deal with, Danny Ainge or Masai Ujiri. The correct answer for all teams not named the Knicks is Danny Ainge, but with the Carmelo Anthony and Andrea Bargnani deals of Ujiri’s past, the answer for New York fans isn’t as clear.
They then get into the potential deals that exist for New York, namely the Michael Scotto reported deal with Utah involving Obi Toppin and Evan Fournier for Jarred Vanderbilt and Malik Beasley. Yossi gives his insight on whether it makes sense for the Knicks (it doesn’t) and questions why New York would give draft capital for role players. They follow that up with the Ian Begley reports about Cam Reddish potentially being dealt to either the Nuggets or Pistons, and who or what the Knicks could receive in return.
They finish up with discussing what the Raptors Fred VanVleet, Gary Trent Jr., Pascal Siakim, and OG Anunoby’s trade values would be in terms of draft compensation.

Joe Yolk (@joeylandolfa) is joined by Kaz (@Kazeem) from PointsBet and MSG (amongst many many other things) stops by to talk about the Knicks recent struggles and success between the Celtics, Nets, and Lakers games.
Focusing on the Lakers games, they discuss the two main storylines out of the game: RJ’s benching for the end of the 4th and all of overtime, and Julius Randle not getting a shot off on the last regulation play.
They include with the recent Knicks talk with Kaz’s success throughout his media career to become the busy media personality that he is today, how long he’s been gambling for and what he generally hits on (definitely not insane parlays lol.)
Lastly, Joe asks Kaz to compare the Knicks current roster makeup to the WWE faction The Bloodline, and who is going to be the Sami Zayn a.k.a which Knick is most likely to be shipped out before the trade deadline.

Joe Yolk (@joeylandolfa) goes solo for the first time to clarify the feelings and opinions of various topics for the three current members of Big Knick Energy. Those three members are Angelo, Vin aka Modelo, and himself. He tries his best to articulate the thoughts they’ve had in the past about constantly hot button topics within the Knicks Community, aka Julius Randle and Tom Thibodeau. Yolk gives reasons why trading Randle isn’t worthwhile based on his current season’s performance vs. what the market asking price might be. He does give examples of trade scenarios that he would be willing to trade Randle, albeit they all are beyond unrealistic. He follows that up with giving a few names of coaches he feels would be worth bringing in to help the Knicks get to the next step in their organizations journey to their next title, or at least even an Eastern Conference Finals appearance. The Knicks are no where near where the Warriors were for the example, but similar to the Steve Kerr hire after Mark Jackson took the Warriors to a 1st round playoff exit.

Joe Yolk (@joeylandolfa) is joined by Marc Berman (@NYPost_Berman), now happily retired in sunny Florida but he was a world renowned sports writer at the NY Post for 25 years (covered the Knicks from 1999-2022). Marc starts out by sharing a quick biopsy of his career path that led to covering the team in 1999. This is followed up with the story behind the almost 1-year-old tale of Mitchell Robinson telling him “Relax” at a postgame, and the time that the Knicks official website posted an awkward exchange between he and Julius Randle that Marc blamed his son for at first. Joe then asks Marc about Cam Reddish not playing vs. being traded, which leads to whether beat writer’s ask hard-hitting enough questions when given certain openings or opportunities. They finish up with the hypothetical scenario that the Knicks are playing in the ECF in 2025 and how the team would get there. Bonus content: Marc answers 5 favorite/least favorite questions and dishes about Obi Toppin before they sign off.

Big Knick Energy Podcast S2E11 - The Boys Are Back
Tuesday Dec 13, 2022
Tuesday Dec 13, 2022
Joe Yolk @joeylandolfa and Brad Dressler @braddressler24 dissect the Knicks recent performances and the 9-man rotational choice that Thibs has seemed to settle on, and the unfortunate timing of Obi Toppin's leg injury. Then they go over the expected trade market and value that some current Knicks have and whether it's worth pairing IQ with Evan Fournier or Derrick Rose in a trade to get off the bad contracts that Leon Rose has strapped himself to. (It's not.) They finish up with what Julius Randle's trade value is to the rest of the league and why it's unlikely the Knicks FO and another team's FO would ever meet in the middle. P.S. We recorded this before the Hornets game. Brad guessed Thibs rotational choice right for Obi's replacement and Joe guessed the result of the game correctly
